Hilton Worldwide hotels recently announced that guests will be able to use their mobile devices to check in, check out and select their rooms by the end of 2014.
The Los Angeles Times reported that travelers can browse floor plans and available rooms beginning at 6 a.m. the day before check in. In addition to making room selections and checking in and out, guests will also be able to make special requests or upgrades from their mobile devices.
This new option will soon be ideal for those out on business travel who are arriving to their hotel late at night or need to get out in a rush the next day.
Currently, travelers can digitally check out of their rooms in all Hilton hotels in the U.S., but the company said that this option will be available throughout the globe by the end of 2016. Travel + Leisure reported that the new mobile options will be available for the company's more than 650,000 rooms at 4,000 hotels across the country.
According to the LA Times, Hilton also plans to launch technology that will allow guests to turn their mobile devices into room keys beginning in 2015.
