Six ways to keep up with what’s going on at GBTA Convention 2015

July 21, 2015 |

Do you use flight tracking services like FlightAware.com and FlightRadar24.com? In today's Take on Travel, Nancy Rissky tells us why they're so important. It’s no secret that a ton of news and information comes out of the GBTA Convention each year. This year’s event in Orlando will be no different. Whether you’re going to GBTA or not, here are some of the best places to keep up with what’s happening.

1. Twitter
The official GBTA hashtag has been the first place to look for up-to-the-second happenings at GBTA for years. This year will be now different. Save #GBTA2015 to your favorite Twitter client. Follow it, read it and use it! Travel and Transport will be sending all of our event tweets out with the #GBTA2015 hashtag too. You can also follow us directly @TandTNews.

2. Instagram
Twitter isn’t the only place you can use #GBTA2015. Put it into your search in your Instagram app and see what happens – you’ll see all kinds of great images of stuff that’s going on at the convention! When you’re snapping pictures at the event, don’t forget to add that hashtag to your own posts. While you’re at it, go ahead and follow Travel and Transport!

3. GBTA.org
If you’re looking for the latest information on everything official that’s happening at GBTA this year, your first place to look is at the convention website. From information on every session and speaker, to what time the tradeshow floor will be open each day, you can find it all here.

You can also download the official convention mobile app for Android and iOS devices.

4. Google News
Get the latest news stories published about announcements and news made at GBTA by following our Google News search here. You can take it from there by adding search phrases to the search to fine tune exactly what you’re looking for. Google News is a great tool for events like GBTA but it is useful year-round for virtually any topic. You can even create alerts based on your searches if you have a Google account.

5. Swarm and Foursquare
If you’re wandering around Orlando looking for the best place to go, there are a ton of apps that will help you find out what’s going on. My personal favorites are companion apps: Foursquare and Swarm. The rumor of Foursquare’s demise is not at all true! At least I don’t think so. Foursquare lets you know where the most happening places are in town. Swarm is more personal. It helps you find out where the people you follow are at – helping guide you towards – or away from – the action. Foursquare’s famous check-ins and mayorships? They’re actually in the Swarm app now. Both apps are available for iOS and Android. They even offer Apple Watch apps.

6. TravelandTransport.com
You can also keep an eye on our website for the latest updates each day next week. We’re looking forward to another great year at GBTA! Don’t forget to visit us at booth 807 if you’re at the convention. Here’s a look at what we’re really excited to show you!
