For the second year, Travel and Transport’s employee-owners working at our Denver area reservation office are enjoying delicious vegetables, fruits and herbs grown right at their office site. Situated behind the office facilities is a large open expanse. Where some might have seen just another commercial green space, a group of employees there saw a perfect place to grow healthy food to enjoy and share.
Operations supervisor Jim Buck explains that the garden is about more than just what it produces. According to Jim, “It’s a good way for the office to bond. Many people maintain it and keep it watered, and it helps keep morale high in the office.”
Morale will likely be even higher when the harvest comes in. The team planted all of the following:
- Green Beans
- Yellow Squash
- Bell Peppers
- Various Green Chilis
- Green Onions
- Herbs (Basil, Cilantro, Rosemary, Mint and Dill)
Looks like it’s garden salad for lunch there for the foreseeable future.
Congratulations to everyone involved. This is a shining example of how being an employee-owner builds a sense of community, responsibility and empowerment regarding the place where we all work.
